Hermiston is a progressive, growth-oriented urban center for an area based economically on distribution warehousing, agriculture, food processing, utilities and other light industry. Centrally located, Hermiston has become a transportation center accessed by Interstate Highways I-84 (east to west) and I-82 (north and south) as well as rail and river transportation systems.
Hermiston School District
The Hermiston School District is the largest school district in Eastern Oregon with nearly 5,000 students, and continues to experience steady growth. It serves students in grades kindergarten through 12 with a broad range of programs from basic skills to vocational opportunities to advanced placement classes. The school district includes a 9-12 senior high school, two 6-8 middle schools, and five K-5 elementary schools, all within the city limits.
Hermiston is a diverse community we are the Gate Way to Eastern Oregon in terms of transportation infrastructure, physical location and a strong history of growth, we continue to see a strong housing market and new construction. Hermiston grew from 15,780 in 2007 to 16,330 in 2008,that is a 3.5% growth in one year. Hermiston is the fastest growing city in Eastern Oregon for its size and is 5 minutes from the mighty Columbia River.

Fisherman back on feet, thanks to Convoy, MAPS
Jimmy Morgan, an oyster fisherman from Louisiana, had his house and boat destroyed by Katrina in 2005. Hundreds of church groups, MAPS teams, Convoy of Hope teams and volunteers headed to the region to help families like the Morgans get back on their feet.

Klaude Kendrick, who served as president of three different Assemblies of God institutions of higher education, passed away Saturday. He was 93.
